Romania bets big on AI: major government project opens doors for agile tech innovation

According to an official release published by Mediafax, Romania has just launched a large-scale government project.

It is focused on integrating artificial intelligence into public sector institutions, with a total funding of nearly 300 million lei (~€60M).

Spearheaded by the Romanian Authority for Digitalization (ADR), the initiative will run over four years and involves collaboration with five innovative SMEs (selected to design, test, and deploy advanced AI-powered digital solutions.).

The institutions involved include:

  • National Institute of Statistics,
  • National Meteorological Administration,
  • General Secretariat of the Government,
  • Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration,
  • Romanian Gendarmerie.

The project’s core objective is to develop a unified technological platform that enables AI models trained on real, domain-specific data.

The ultimate goal is to support evidence-based policymaking and smarter public service delivery.

This project sends a clear message to the entire digital innovation ecosystem:

The Romanian government is actively looking for agile partners, creative minds, and tech providers who truly understand the inner workings of public institutions.

UNICORE SRL – a committed partner in the digital transformation of public services

As a software company specialized in custom-built digital solutions, UNICORE SRL welcomes this initiative and expresses strong interest in contributing to its success.

With over 7 years of experience supporting the digitalization of public administration, UNICORE has implemented platforms such as IntegraApps.

Integra’s software (IntegraApps) is already used by government entities across Romania to automate workflows, manage documents electronically, and enable seamless digital interactions with citizens.

We have also developed a suite of in-house AI modules tailored to the public sector:
• automated issue classification
• natural language response generation
• priority assignment based on content analysis
• entity recognition and predictive analytics

These solutions are already deployed in real-world institutional settings, reflecting both our technical capabilities and domain expertise.

From our perspective, the ADR project is not just a competitive call – it’s a collaborative space for experimentation, learning, and co-creation, where real progress can happen at the intersection of tech and policy.
