In the digitalization projects implemented by Unicore, one thing stands out: middle managers play a key role in the success of digital transformation.
They are the ones who align the strategic vision of leadership with the real pace and needs of operational teams. And when they to do this, digitalization drives progress, instead of becoming an obstacle.
We’ve identified 3 simple and effective tactics used by middle managers who made a difference in our projects:
Involving the team in defining digital processes
Co-creating process diagrams and operational workflows together with the team directly fosters a genuine sense of ownership and responsibility. Active participation paves the way for sincere adoption of new digital solutions.
Creating internal mini-workshops to understand the technology
One- to two-hour sessions, organized with expert support or facilitated by the middle managers themselves, help teams practically understand the new digital tools. This reduces resistance and increases hands-on competence.
Encouraging two-way feedback between top management and the team
Clear feedback loops—such as weekly wrap-ups and dedicated listening sessions for team challenges and needs—increase engagement and foster a sense of collaboration at all levels.
These tactics have shown visible results. At the same time, every context brings new lessons.
What other pragmatic tactics have you applied or observed that help drive digitalization success in your institutions?
